Professor Peter Monteath BA, MA, PhD – ‘The Vickers Vimy in South Australia’

Peter Monteath is a Professor of History at Flinders University in Adelaide.  He was born and grew up in Brisbane before attending the University of Queensland, Siegen University (Federal Republic of Germany) and Griffith University.

Professor Monteath has taught previously at The Universities of Queensland, Western Australia and Adelaide as well as at Griffith and Deakin Universities.  Peter has also been Adjunct Professor at The University of St. Louis Missouri and the Technical University of Berlin, where he was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow.

Currently Peter teaches modern European history and writes about various aspects of European and Australian history, with a particular interest in things German.  Away from Flinders, he is President of the History Council of South Australia, a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and a Trustee of the History Trust of South Australia.

Peter’s Interests include a distant admiration for Hertha BSC (a top-tier German Football Club), badminton, and unabashed nostalgia for the glorydays of the Brisbane Lions.
