Elizabeth Day – SA Director of DFAT – ‘The Life of a Travelling Diplomat

Elizabeth Day is the Director of the DFAT South Australian State Office and manages the Department’s engagement with its diverse stakeholders across South Australia.
A career diplomat, Ms Day has served overseas as the Political Counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Paris (2014-16), First Secretary in Dili (2007-9) and Third Secretary at the Australian Permanent Mission to the UN in Vienna (2002-05). She worked at the Embassy in Cairo in 2011 and as a civilian peace monitor on the island of Bougainville PNG in 2001.
Elizabeth was born and educated in South Australia and speaks French. She holds Bachelor Degrees of Arts and Laws (with Honours) from the University of Adelaide; a Graduate Diploma of Arts (Foreign Affairs and Trade) from Monash University and a Master of Arts (International Relations) from Deakin University. Elizabeth has also been the recipient of the C.A.S Hawker Scholarship
