Dr Geoffrey Raby AO – ‘Great Gammę On: the geopolitical contest between Eurasia and beyond’

Dr. Geoffrey Raby is an economist and was Australia’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China from 2007 to 2011.  Prior to this appointment, Dr. Raby held a number of significant ambassadorial positions and several senior positions in DFAT, including Deputy Secretary from 2002-2006.  After completing 27 years in the public service, Dr. Raby completed his ambassadorial term and resigned to establish Geoff Raby and Associates, a Beijing-based business advisory firm.

In 2011, Dr. Raby was awarded the Order of Australia for his contribution in advancing relations between China and Australia and his contribution to multilateral trade negotiations.  Dr. Raby was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by both the Federation University and Latrobe University (his Alma Mater), both in 2022.
