The Honourable Justice Samuel John Doyle – “Are Judges out of touch and too soft?”

Justice Doyle graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from Adelaide University and a Bachelor of Civil Law from Oxford University.

Justice Doyle was an associate to the Honourable Justice Lander from 1995-1996, before joining the legal firm of Fisher Jeffries, working as a solicitor from 1997-2001.  Justice Doyle was a member of Jeffcott Chambers between 2002-2015 and took silk in 2012.  He was Vice President of the SA Bar Association from 2014-2015.

Justice Doyle was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia in December 2015.  He has spent the last five years hearing matters in both the civil and criminal jurisdictions of the Court, regularly sitting as member of the Full Court of the Supreme Court and the Court of Criminal Appeal.

In December 2020 Justice Doyle was appointed a Justice of the Court of Appeal.
