December 13, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
$50Event Navigation

Sally Grundy’s family have farmed on Hindmarsh Island and Mundoo Island for many generations. Mundoo Island Station is the last farming property on the River Murray and is dissected by the Coorong Barrages. This provides a unique wetland environment of fresh water on one side and salt water on the other. Living in this diverse habitat, Sally has developed a passion for the natural environment and she has collected a wealth if data from monitoring and surveying the surrounding animal and bird life. This information assists in the formation of important environmental decisions made by government agencies. Sally is a keen photographer of birds and nature and has written a history of the Station, dating back to 1843. In addition to her wildlife activities, Sally is also busy working on the family farm. A typical day for Sally can include mustering, working with cattle and sheep in the stockyards, tractor driving, fencing, tourism, followed by the myriad office tasks in the evening. Sally has two children, Jessie and Jack. Jack is hoping to study Agricultural Science and become the 6th generation to farm the family property.
