Geoff grew up on a fruit block in Vale Park.
Licensed Surveyor and spent eight years, from 1969 to 1978, in geodetic and cadastral surveying with the Department of Lands in South Australia.
In 1978 undertook thirteen years in the coal mining and construction industry in the far north of South Australia.
In 1991 returned to the government to work as the Regional Surveyor at the Berri office of the Department of Lands. Three years later took on the job of Supervising Geodetic Surveyor with the same department in Adelaide.
From 2001 until 2009 the author was also lecturer in Geodesy and supervisor of Honours Theses at the University of South Australia.
The author holds adegree in Surveying from the University of Adelaide, Master of Science in Surveying and Geodesy from the University of Oxford,
and is proceeding to a degree in Australian and English literature at the University of Adelaide.
Publications include those in Geodetic datum issues, accuracy of Digital elevation Models, Precise earth movement studies, transference of heights above sea level by flat river levels and re-interpretation of Murray River Flood levels, and effects of soil movement in Hillcrest area on boundary system. Research topics include the creation of a geometrically determined geoid-spheroid template over metropolitan Adelaide.
