Genevieve Rueger – ‘From Helicopter Pilot to Firey’

Genevieve Rueger grew up in Belair with her parents and two older brothers. She left Adelaide at 17 years of age to commence her military training in Canberra. Genevieve graduated from the Army Pilot’s Course as a Helicopter Pilot in 2006 and joined the Counter Terrorism Regiment in Sydney.
Genevieve lived in most states and territories during her 22 year Army career. She deployed numerous times on domestic and international exercises and proudly on ADF Operations in East Timor (2006) and Afghanistan (2009). Genevieve pursued a new career direction in 2019 and is now a qualified Fire Fighter with the Metropolitan Fire Service, working in the Adelaide CBD Fire Station.
Her most honoured civil achievements wers receiving a Women of Achievement Award 2014; being awarded a place on the South Australian Women’s Honour Roll; and dropping her two children, Kayley and Lachie, off at school a couple of years ago in a helicopter.
