Diane is a retired school teacher/educator. She holds a degree in Education(Flinders University) and a Masters degree in International Education at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada. Her father was a Ukrainian soldier in WW 2 with an English mother. They migrated to Australia in 1957 when Diane was 4 years old .Most of her father’s family are still living in Ukraine and Diane is passionate about helping Ukrainians and supporting those who have been affected by the illegal and Immoral invasion .She has taught English to older displaced people from Ukraine and provided emotional support. Her passion is education and the well being of young people. Diane has established a charity ”Rebuilding Schools Ukraine” which has already raised over $180.000 .Details about the charity can be found at:www.rsu.org.au
The club is planning a Sundowner at Carrick Hill on Friday 20th March and Diane will be arranging special Ukrainian Entertainmen,t Ukrainian Bandura Ensemble.. This will be at the outdoor section of the restaurant. Carrick Hill has agreed to provide a donation from the admission, and support will also be provided by the Commonwealth Club.
A separate flyer will be sent to book for the Sundowner. Diane will have a power-point presentation for her talk which will further highlight the extremity of the suffering being endured by the Ukrainian People.
